What is a Doula?

Doula is a Greek word that means non-medical person that gives physical, emotional and spiritual support to someone else.

What is an End of Life Doula?

An End-of-life Doula (EOLD) provides holistic support for the dying and their loved ones before, during, and after death.  Trained in the various stages associated with the end of life, an EOLD is able to assist the dying individual and their family to both understand and manage this natural life process gracefully and peacefully as possible, while also providing comfort and support.

Lynne-Anne McGrail, MA, RID CI/CT, NEDA Proficient, End of Life Doula and Consultant

Hello, my name is Lynne-Anne McGrail, the founder of A Peaceful Transition. While it’s uncomfortable and awkward to talk about death, there is 100 percent chance it’s going to happen to all of us.

While death is a very natural part of life, it’s okay to be afraid, uncertain, and unknowing as to how to deal with it.

As an End of Live Doula (EOLD), I am here to advocate, educate, support and guide you and your loved one though this natural process of life.  I bring comfort and understanding through all stages of the dying process. I am there before, during and after your loved one has passed.  I am also a strong advocate for starting early with your plans around end of life. This helps to keep the fears at bay, attain more control over the process, and promotes the peace-of-mind we all long for at the end of life.

“Lynne-Anne has been an incredible health care professional and end of life Doula to my mother during the most difficult time of her life. Whether it be a trusted source of information, a friendly companion, or a solid shoulder to lean on, Lynne-Anne has earned our trust and deep appreciation for her time and delicate touch. After my mom’s sepsis attack, she lost her social life and ability to connect with friends. Now that my mom is primarily house bound, Lynne-Anne has been a friend to my mom, connecting with her often in person and by phone. We value Lynne-Anne and recommend her to any family seeking these services. She is a true professional who has also become a family friend”
